Just a normal day in school
Date Submitted: 10/24/2015
I was in 6th grade during 9/11. 1st period had just begun at 8:30AM , and our school filmed daily morning announcements on the TV , and it would be broadcasted live at 9:00 every day, Our teacher would always turn the tv on 5 minutes before announcements started, and it would tune to the only channel our school had back then, CNN. On september 11, i was doing my work and i heard the tv turn on but i didn't bother to look, i was so focused on my work, but 5 seconds later i heard my teacher gasp, and i looked at the television and saw the north tower on fire, our class stopped everything they were doing and stared at the tv, while our teacher went to notify other classrooms to turn the television on, then at 9:02 , i witnessed the 2nd plane hit the tower, and when our teacher came back inside the classroom around 2 minutes later she was in total shock. As the day went on i witnessed the south tower collapse at 9:59 and the north tower at 10:28. My parents checked me out of school during lunch time, and i got home and asked my parents why would anyone do this, i was just a kid many questions, but found few answers.
...in the aftermath, I attended an interfaith prayer meeting that left me in awe. And I know now that though there might be a few incidents no one is proud of, we have come a long way in the fight against bigotry.
