At the Station

We were checking the trucks when I walked inside as my Lieutenant was watching the coverage of the first tower. We were talking about what happened and how could they have not seen the building. We looked up and saw the second tower being struck. At that moment we knew we were under some sort of attack. We went outside and helped the other guys pull the trucks in. We walked inside and watched in shocked silence as both towers collapsed.
Those who die innocent deaths never really die. They are everywhere; we just don't see them in quite the same way. And the culmination of what they were and what their death meant is as prevalent and tangible as the warmth in your soul and the sorrow in your heart.
