I wasn't born yet but i still mourn

i was born in New York during 2002 and each year in school we have a moment of silence for all those who lost their lives. I personally am changed because of the attack forever. I will grow up in a society that's filled with fear. I was never given a chance to see what life without the fear of new people is like. I just want to be able to show kindness to others without being terrified if they will hurt me. I also do believe the attack has made us New yorkers stronger, we rely on each other during the hard times more. I am forever grateful for my freedom.
As America confronts these tragic circumstances, it is imperative that the situation is not compounded by expressions of religious or ethnic intolerance. The greatness of our nation rests on the exceptional diversity of religions, nationalities, and ethnic backgrounds which characterize its people.
