I was stationed Inc Keflavik, Iceland with my family and on 9/11 we were on leave in Hollywood, FL. It took us almost a week to get back to the base in Iceland. Upon return I was full time Auxilary Security Force for the next 6 months.
It was difficult to be away from the base on that morning. As a member of the military all I wanted to do was be back on base and contribute to the cause.
Those who die innocent deaths never really die. They are everywhere; we just don't see them in quite the same way. And the culmination of what they were and what their death meant is as prevalent and tangible as the warmth in your soul and the sorrow in your heart.
