I was an Information Systems Technician stationed in Keflavik, Iceland at NCTS Keflavik with my family. On 9/11 we were on leave in Hollywood, FL. It took us almost a week to get back to the base in Iceland. Upon return I was full time Auxilary Security Force for the next 6 months.
It was difficult to be away from the base on that morning. As a member of the military all I wanted to do was be back on the base and contributing to the cause.
As America confronts these tragic circumstances, it is imperative that the situation is not compounded by expressions of religious or ethnic intolerance. The greatness of our nation rests on the exceptional diversity of religions, nationalities, and ethnic backgrounds which characterize its people.
