I was only two years old when it happened. I grew up about 50 minutes outside of NYC in a suburb. I was at preschool that day. My mom worked about 20 minutes from my house and my dad worked in New Jersey, but at the time he was in Ohio for a business trip. When it happened, they had to release all of the kids from day care because nobody knew what was happening. My mom rushed home and got me. She had no idea what to do. My dad's family lived about 50 minutes away in New York, so she was considering taking us to my grandparents house and staying there until my dad came back eventually, but instead she just decided to stay home with me. I was too little to remember any of this, but she says she just watched the news 24-7 for the next couple days.

As I began to take a sip from my glass of water, I counted my blessings. Never take anything in this life for granted, not even something as simple and as pure as the water you drink. You never know when you won't have that luxury ever again.
