Just a Baby

On September 11, 2001, I was one year old. We were living in Idaho, so the time difference meant that the first plane hit the tower a couple hours before I even woke up.
My mother says she got a call from one of her friends shortly after I had woken up to go check the news. She scooped me up, walked to the living room, and turned on the news at 8:28 am Idaho time, 10:28 NYC time, just in time to see the North Tower collapse.
My dad was in the break room at his job, waiting to get off his night shift so he could go home, when they turned on the news and watched it all from beginning to end.
Soon both towers came down. We realized that terrorism was now not just what we see on the evening news. The sadness of loss of life increased 10 fold, then disbelief, confusion, anger, and fear.
