We were in California when I first found out about 9/11, so it was 5:46 in California and I was sleeping. My husband had gone to work early, and he found out at work and called me. The kids were all still asleep. My husband came home from work and we watched TV for a long time. When I first found out, I was stunned and sad and anxious. We stayed close to the radio and television to keep informed. We needed a washer and dryer, so I went to an appliance store. As we filled out paperwork, I asked the clerk what day it was and she responded “September 11th, I bet you won’t forget the day you bought this washer. On a daily basis, my life did not change. My view of muslims in general did not change. Some good that came from 9/11 is that it brought our country together more.
