I retired in 1999 but I was still going to job interviews . A friend of mine who was Chief of Security for a company located in the WTC suggested that I might be interested in a position with his company .He arranged for me to have an interview on 9/11/2001 at 9:30 AM.
I was going to arrive an hour earlier and have coffee with him .A few weeks prior to the scheduled interview I received a call stating that my appointment had to be changed.I called my friend and suggested that I come on 9/11 and meet him for coffee or breakfast anyway. He said that was silly and I should just meet him on the new date.
He died in the WTC. He was a retired NYC Police Officer and everyone who knew him had the understanding that he would never try to leave until everyone he worked with could get out.
He is my hero.
My wife and I attend memorial services all over the US to list his name on memorial walls.
