I was living Lakewood, Colorado, on 9/11. My friend called at 7 a.m. and told me to turn the TV on. So we saw the second plane hit on TV. I spent the whole day trying to call friends who worked in the city or had family there and all the phone lines were tied up. I had to go to work, because I worked at a paper that printed on Tuesday nights. I went in late, and we kept the TV on in the conference room all day. I continued to try to call and e-mail my friends and family who worked in NYC. I finally heard from a friend by email that her husband, who worked on Wall St., was safe. I spoke to my other friend that night. Her husband was working downtown and walked to 96th St. Sadly, my cousins’ cousin, who worked for Cantor Fitzgerald, was killed. My husband’s good friend from high school’s uncle was Deputy Commissioner Chief William Feehan, the highest ranking firefighter killed. May they and all the other victims rest in peace and let us never forget!
