I remember…
I woke up to get ready for work. I was living in West Covina so I had to get up early because I worked in Downtown LA for the Architecture Firm. My son was almost a year old and like every morning I would pick my son up from his bed and have him by me as I watched the morning news and get ready for work. I tuned in as reports of a plane hitting one of the towers. I was shocked thinking it was a small plane that hit the building and it was a sad accident….then.. the other plane hit as I watched in horror…I could feel the adrenaline hit me. I picked up my son and held him as we watched the Chaos unfold. I drove to work listening to NPR like everyone else around me on the fwy…everyone seemed in shock. Traffic was heavy so I had time to see many people hold their faces and cry. As I entered Downtown LA I see Police mobilized everywhere. The Downtown interior was a ghost town. It was the first time seeing Downtown LA empty on a weekday. I got up to the office and no one was in the office. I was there for maybe 15 minutes when the phone rang. I picked up the phone and it was my boss . “I knew you would be there, get out.. reports of a plane from NY to LA can not be found, get your ass out of there NOW” he said. So I grabbed all of our Network backup tapes and took off heading home. I never felt so much fear in my life….It is something I will never forget!
