Yes, I remember where I was on 9.11.01 just like I remember where I was when President Kennedy was shot. I just left the World Trade Center (PATH) and arrived at my office on William Street.
I was going to my desk when I noticed with a colleague that there were so many pieces of paper flying around in the street. We did not hear the first plane crash into the WWTC. Afterwards, it was so surreal, running away with a bottle of water and paper towels to cover our nose and mouth. Finally, I met up with my sister in midtown and we got on a ferry for New Jersey and for the first time I actually looked towards where the towers once stood. All you could see was smoke and it just hit me like a ton of bricks.
One woman that I worked with lost her nephew at the WWTC – he was 34 years old. The woman accross the hall from my apartment lost her brother-in-law on Flight 93.
I think the whole nation was touched.
