Lived in NY on 9.11.01?: No
Knew someone who perished?: No

I had just stepped off of the 23rd St Path train, headed to work on Park Ave South, like every ordinary work week.
But on that particular day, for some strange reason, I chose to turn on my portable radio to listen to WPLJ, when the first words I hear from one of the DJ’s was, “it appears that one of the Twin Towers was hit by a plane…”
Initially, I wasn’t stunned by the news, thinking that it was by a Cessna.(those small personal planes) Additionally, the DJ’s also were thinking of the same thing.
I took me 10-15 minutes to arrive my company floor, as I walked passed the offices and cublicles of my colleagues, I began passing the news that “one of the Twin Towers was hit by a plane,” still thinking that it was a Cessna of some sort. By the time I got to my desk, on the far corner of the floor, some curious colleagues had followed me to hear more about this incident. Since it was thru my portable CD player, I went ahead and connected my PC speakers to it for everyone to listen…., until someone found/read online that it was a commuter plane…, By this point I believe I had gathered more than half of the staff on floor, all huddled around my desk, listening to the horrific events as they unfolded…

I only worked in NYC. I never lived there. And yet, six years later…, and this still bothers me… writing this…, crying as if I lost someone very dear to me…

I guess it is safe to say that I’ve been traumatized by this… in some way.
