I live in the Mountains of Colorado, near Aspen. Sept 11 was my day off. I was sleeping in when the phone rang. My roommate was at work and called. “Dan, you better turn on the TV”, he said. I grabbed the remote and flipped the TV on. It was already on Fox News as that is what I was watching when I went to bed. I was still on the phone as the second plane hit. I told my roommate that another plane had hit. He told me to call his mother in North Carolina (Ft. Bragg) and mine in Oklahoma to see if everyone was alright. I hung up and stood there stunned. I had spent 3 years in Germany in the 80’s guarding Nuclear Missles. I didnt know what was coming next. After the initial fear calmed down, I was mad. So very mad. I went and took the flag that was from my Uncle’s Funeral and hung it up on my house. I sure hope that sometime, someone is going to pay for this. And dearly.
