The one thing that sticks in my mind clearer than anything else about that day was how beautiful it was that day. I woke up to a dim early morning sky that had not yet welcomed the sun but was already showing promise. The air was filled with the sounds of rustling leaves and a cool breeze blew through the trees. I remember being brought home from school just after the second plane hit. The radio in the car didn’t seem to make any sense and judging my the urgency of the situation I thought something had happened at home. When I got out of the car I stopped for a brief moment and looked towards the sky. The clouds were few, the sun was warming, the breeze was gentle, and so I pondered “How could anything go wrong on such a lovely day?”
