I was in Chicago on business, but spending the there evening in the Blue Brothers Suite of the House Of Blues Hotel with the woman who will always be my only true love. It should have been a pleasant memory forever. But I woke up in the morning to find that the world had changed. Th visions of my home, New York, in flames, … under attack, … vulnerable and shattered, left me in shock.
We each drove separately back toward our respective homes, mine in CT., hers in NJ. … And I will forever remember the eery feeling of that 15 hour drive through the night, listening to “War of The Worlds” type radio reports, and seeing lower Manhattan in a smokey glow as I drove through NJ.
That girl is gone from my life now, as is everything wonderful about the world I knew before 9.11. In every way my life will now never be the same, … and in no way for the better.
