I was in the Second grade when this tragedy struck our nation. My friends and I had just finished eating are lunches and in that time after lunch the younger children had recess. We were running up the stairs to go outside and play and then once we reached the doors everything changed. The entire playground was quite and everyone was just standing there praying quietly while we all listened to the church bells ring in honor of those who had lost their lives. Although I did not quite understand what was going on because I was still fairly young, my mother quickly explained to me the importance of what was going on. School was let out early and my mother came to pick me up. She sat there and watched the news why I minded my own business and just played with my toys. She did not want me to experience of what was happening at such a young age. I’ll remember that day for the rest of my life.
