I was in our data entry computer room, a very small crowded room with about 15 other people. My boss who always came in late because she lived an hour away came running in the morning right after 9am. She was very excited and looked frightened and said we were under attack by terrorists. One lady had a TV she watched the soaps on at lunch and we all gathered around just in time to see the replay of the 2nd tower getting hit. When it fell near 10 o’clock I was in total disbelief and non belief. I remember naively hoping they all made it out. Later reading the numbers I still find it unbelievable that so many lives were lost. About a month later on the bulletin board at work it was posted that a young man who once sold books for our company and later went to work for Cantor Fitzgerald was lost. I never knew him that well but I am sad for him and all of them and the families etc. The world will never be the same. So much evil done that day and all in the name of religion. Hard to understand even 5 years later.
