When I first heard about the Twin Towers falling, I was at Bear River Middle School prepping for my first hour class. To begin, my students came in and told me about the tragic news. At first, I didn’t believe them, and then I was very confused about what had happened and who had done it. I texted my husband right away to see if he had heard the news. My students and I were stuck to the television watching what was happening in disbelief. In addition to being scared, I was also frightened that our country wasn’t as safe as I thought it was. Afterward, I think in some ways it taught people to be more aware and compassionate also to people of all races and cultures. It taught us to appreciate the police and fireman and those who were affected by the tragedy. Furthermore, my view of Muslims did not change because I think that we should not judge a whole group of people only based on a couple. 9/11 was a day that I will always remember.
